Double-Click Computer Re-utilization Project

Easter Seals Central Texas Community and Housing Services has implemented a new technology assistance effort to aid Texans with disabilities. The purpose of the Double-Click project is to increase independence for people with disabilities through the acquisition of refurbished computers at a low cost. The project is a multi-organizational initiative bringing together expertise from Easter Seals Central Texas, AmeriCorps and the Texas Technology Access Program, who the project is made possible by.

A person with a disability living in Texas may complete the computer application link listed below in its entirety and submit to the ESCT CHS offices for an opportunity to purchase a reasonably priced refurbished computer. What will be included in the computer purchase is a CPU, monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and basic technical assistance. The computer will offer help with word processing, personal financial management and online communication. Double-Click does not offer any specialized equipment or software programs such as JAWS.

In addition, the Double-Click project provides a loan program to provide financial assistance for the acquisition of the refurbished computer. The Double Click Project Loan Program is a companion program to serve as a resource for people with disabilities who have no other financial resource to attain a refurbished computer.
